The mission of the Master of Science Human Resource Management program is to provide educational experiences that align with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in human resource content areas as well as the human resource competencies necessary to be qualified as a professional Human Resources Practitioner.

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has acknowledged that Amberton University’s Master of Science in Human Resource Management is fully aligned with SHRM’s HR Curriculum Guidebook and templates. Eligible students enrolled in Amberton’s MS Human Resource Management program will be able to apply for the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) Exam.

The program can be completed 100% online.

Human resource management (HRM) is the process of employing people, training them, compensating them, developing policies relating to them, and developing strategies to retain them.  As a field, HRM has undergone many changes over the last twenty years, giving it an even more critical role in today’s organizations. Strategic human resources have evolved into more business responsibilities in the organization. HRM practitioners are seen as a partner in organizational success, as opposed to a necessity for legal compliance or compensation. Strategic HRM utilizes the talent and opportunity within the human resource department to make other departments stronger and more effective. Strategic human resource management aligns with the goals of other departments and overall organizational goals.

A graduate with a Master of Science in Human Resource Management will be able to:

  • Manage complex operational and strategic issues in both public and private contexts and evaluate Human Resources Theories, programs, and practices.
  • Develop and learn to become strategic partners with senior management as they compete in a global workplace and interpret cultural dimensions and global knowledge to drive organizational performance.
  • Create guidelines for conduct and behavior expectations to enhance employee engagement and analyze legal, ethical, and corporate responsibility and its impact in organizations.
  • Investigate and illustrate best practices in talent development, global human resources, business leadership, and communication.
  • Integrate how to resolve conflict, develop and employ performance appraisals, and train employees in a diverse workplace.
  • Utilize metrics and systems to strategically develop human capital and maximize employee productivity and performance, grow to become a leader among leaders in the field of human resources, and appraise and create innovative human resource strategies for various business environments to maximize organizational effectiveness.
