Home CSL7999 – Doctoral Comprehensive Exam
The comprehensive examination in the Professional Counseling Doctoral program is a summative assessment covering all completed coursework and core knowledge areas of the curriculum. The exam is designed to evaluate the student’s integrated understanding of professional counseling theory, research, ethics, and practice in preparation for advanced doctoral work.
Students must complete the Comprehensive Examination after completing all coursework, before being eligible to enroll in the Applied Doctoral Project I course. The Comprehensive Examination will be conducted orally by three members of the faculty and consists of eight (8) questions prepared by the Faculty Council.
Once students have successfully completed the Comprehensive Examination (pass/fail), they are eligible to enroll in the Applied Doctoral Project I course. Students must sign up for the Comprehensive Exam and pay the appropriate fee. The student must score 72% or above on the examination to achieve a passing grade.
