"I am passionate about human resources and equity in the workforce."

Bio

My Unique Approach to Education

“As a human resources faculty member, my teaching philosophy is one that includes an andragogy-based approach. Adult learners come with their own experiences to apply to any theory or concept. Cultivating an environment that encourages students to share these experiences where they can apply the learned material to their everyday professional lives is my goal as an educator.”

– Dr. Rachel Peters

My professional background is in Human Resources and Career Services. I have held human resources roles as Chief Human Resources Officer, Human Resources Director, Talent Acquisition Manager, Director of Career Services, and I have taught courses in business, human resources, and career development at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

I completed my Ph.D. in Leadership with a Business/Human Resources area of specialty from the University of the Cumberlands. I’m excited to also share that I am an alumna of Amberton and earned a Master of Science degree in Human Relations & Business. Additionally, I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Texas Woman’s University. I maintain both the PHR® (Professional in Human Resources®) and SHRM-SCP® (Society for Human Resource Management – Senior Certified Professional®) certifications. I am additionally an active National SHRM® Executive Network member and a member of my local SHRM® chapter.

Aside from HR and career services-related interests, I am a Master certified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI® personality indicator) practitioner, Strong Interest Inventory® certified, an active officer of my local alumnae chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi, a member of my local Junior League Association, I serve as a Board Member of the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum, and also on the Board of the Northwest Louisiana SHRM Chapter.

On a personal note, I love to travel internationally, love to experience a wide array of food and culture, and spend time with my family and friends.
