Brief Biography:

I was born in Uvalde, Texas, a small town near the Mexican border. Around the 4th grade, my family decided to move to Montezuma, Kansas, an even smaller town near Dodge City. While I struggled in elementary school in Texas, I excelled in Kansas. Because the classes were small, the teachers knew everyone, and they cared about our performance.

After graduating from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, I was hired by Shell Oil Company. My degree in Finance opened many doors. More importantly, though, I realized that education was the key to my success. I was energized by learning, and my career opportunities improved. I have earned two doctoral degrees and 7 master’s degrees. Further, I am currently working on a Master of Divinity program, which has provided a beautiful learning experience.

Outside of my teaching responsibilities, I am a project management trainer. My clients include Rackspace, City of San Antonio, United States Air Force (USAF), and Verizon Wireless. To deliver these services, I have teams in Asia and Central America.

Here is something unique about me: I officiated men’s collegiate basketball for 25 years, working in conferences such as the Big 12, Mountain West, and WAC.
