GARLAND, Texas (June 1, 2024) – The Board of Trustees for Amberton University proudly announces the appointment of Dr. Carol A. Palmer as the system’s new President. Currently serving as the university’s Vice President for Academic Services, Dr. Palmer assumes office on June 1, 2024, succeeding Dr. Melinda H. Reagan, who retires after 18 years as the university’s second President. Dr. Reagan has dedicated more than 50 years of service to Amberton University and has been awarded the honorary title of President Emeritus.

“We are blessed to have had Dr. Reagan as President for 18 years… and are now blessed to have Dr. Carol Palmer assuming the key leadership role at Amberton University,” said Mr. Mark Parsons, Board of Trustees member. He continued, “With Dr. Palmer guiding the university, we are excited for our next chapter at Amberton of providing quality and relevant education with financially responsible opportunities for today’s adult students.”

Dr. Palmer began her 14-year tenure with Amberton University as an instructor in the Business Division. Previously she served as Vice President for Academic Services, Academic Dean, Director for Business Accreditations, Business Division Chair, and Professor. She has authored several business courses and has helped launch several new degree programs.

Palmer holds a Doctorate and Master’s of Business Administration from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California, and earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California. In addition to her roles as a professor and administrator, where she has a proven track record in higher education, her experience extends to management and operations in various professional settings. She is also actively involved in numerous organizations and activities within the Dallas-Fort Worth community.

“I am incredibly excited to begin this new journey with the Board of Trustees and my colleagues,” said Palmer. “I would like to thank the Board of Trustees, the administration, staff, and faculty for their continued hard work and support. I am confident that together, we will elevate Amberton University to even greater heights!”
