Dr. Stacia’ Alexander

Counseling/Human Behavior

"I am passionate about mental health and breaking the stigma of it in black and brown communities."

Bio

“My unique approach to education is centered around fostering a dynamic learning environment that prioritizes individuality, critical thinking, and real-world application. By encouraging students to explore their passions and interests, I aim to ignite their intrinsic motivation and promote lifelong learning. I believe in cultivating a supportive and inclusive classroom where collaboration and diversity of ideas are celebrated. Through hands-on experiences, interactive discussions, and personalized guidance, I strive to empower students to become independent thinkers, problem solvers, and agents of positive change in society.”

I have been a resident of Texas my entire life, dedicating myself to serving the community through both private practice and academic pursuits since becoming a licensed professional counselor in 1998. With a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, and a doctorate in Clinical Psychology, I have equipped myself with the knowledge and expertise to make a positive impact.

Engaging in private practice has allowed me to collaborate with exceptional community leaders in destigmatizing mental health within underserved communities. Furthermore, it has provided me with opportunities to employ and train a diverse group of clinicians, empowering them to embark on successful careers in the mental health field. Over the years, I have been fortunate to witness the launch of over a hundred professional journeys in this domain.

Alongside my clinical work and academic endeavors, I have also ventured into professional speaking engagements. Specifically, I focus on topics such as “The Emotionality of Success” and “My College Mental Health.” By sharing my insights, I aim to assist individuals from all backgrounds in comprehending and embracing the significance of integrating mental health into their self-care routines, just as they do with their physicians, dentists, and optometrists.

Overall, my passion lies in helping people from diverse walks of life understand the vital role of mental health in their overall well-being and encouraging them to prioritize it in their daily lives.
