Dr. Darnell has over 30 years of professional management experience and has been with Amberton University since Summer 2002. In addition to his academic responsibilities, he has held industry positions as a Principal Consultant and Agile Coach for an international technology consulting company, a Sr. Project Manager at a leading Marketing/Marketing Technology company, a Project Engineer III for a global consumer-electronics company, and as President/CEO of a logistics and supply chain management company. Other professional engagements have included business process consulting, software development project management, agile project lead, Scrum Master, and infrastructure implementation project management for organizations in various industries including Airline, Advertising, Financial, Interactive Marketing, Logistics, Telecommunications, and Pharmaceutical.
He has Ph.D. in Organization Management – Information Technology Management from Capella University where he studied coordination effectiveness and Agile software development project success. He earned an M.B.A. with a concentration in Management Information Systems from the Graduate College of Management at the University of Dallas and a B.S. in Economics and Finance from the University of Texas at Dallas. He holds professional certifications as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and Agile Certified Professional (PMI-ACP) from the Project Management Institute, and Certified Scrum Master (CSM) from the Agile Alliance.
Dr. Darnell and his wife, Rhonda, live in Dallas, TX and when not teaching, consulting, studying, or working they enjoy spending time on their Sea Ray cabin cruiser at Lake Texoma.
