My Unique Approach to Education

“Education is like a road map to an endless adventure. Educators prepare students for the journey ahead by providing the tools and skills needed so that every learner can achieve their maximum potential. Students’ passion for learning and drive to succeed is nurtured by the teachers who educate them. Teachers facilitate student learning while students actively participate in their learning experience. Providing the highest quality education to students means educators must prepare and plan with purpose and a clear intent. The clear and purposeful planning includes creating a culture of respect, acceptance, and trust within the learning environment. As an educator, I expect student ownership of learning but most importantly, I will provide a classroom embracing differences, I will provide a safe environment to discuss difficult topics, I will provide an environment without judgement, and I will influence students’ passion for school counseling.”

I am currently in my twenty-fourth year of education, with twenty years experience as a school counselor. During my journey of school counseling, I have had the opportunity to work on both the elementary and secondary levels. I earned my Doctoral Degree from Baylor University, Master’s Degree from Texas A&M Commerce, and Bachelor’s Degree from Stephen F. Austin. I currently live in Prosper, Texas with two amazing children and an amazing husband of twenty-six years.
