This course is designed for students who wish to continue a relationship with a practicum site as a student at Amberton University. The course is an extension of the Practicum II for MA Professional Counseling students and Practicum III for MA Marriage and Family Therapy students. This course can only be taken upon successful completion of Practicum II or Practicum III. This course will enable students to maintain a relationship with their practicum site and allow them to continue to work and gain additional experience under supervision. After completing requirements for the MA Professional Counseling or MA Marriage and Family Therapy degrees students may enroll in the course and continue to accrue hours toward their 3000-hour supervised internship. The board of professional counseling allows a student to accrue up to 400-hours toward his or her internship after they have completed the 300-hour practicum requirement. Students enrolled in the MA Marriage and Family Therapy program may also enroll in the course after successfully completing Practicum III. The course offers the student additional field experience in counseling. Students are expected to complete within this course a minimum of 150-hours of ongoing supervised counseling experience. Participation in continuing education, staff meetings, case presentations, and case observations is expected.
