AMBERTON UNIVERSITY APPOINTS DR. CAROL A. PALMER AS ITS NEW PRESIDENT

Higher Education Leader will Assume Role on June 1, 2024, with the Retirement of Dr. Melinda H. Reagan after 18 years as President.

GARLAND, Texas (June 1, 2024) - The Board of Trustees for Amberton University proudly announces the appointment of Dr. Carol A. Palmer as the system's new President. Dr. Palmer will become the university's Vice President for Academic Services on June 1, 2024, replacing Dr. Melinda H. Reagan, who served as the university's second President for 18 years. Dr. Reagan has served Amberton University for over 50 years and earned the honorary title of President Emeritus.

"We are blessed to have had Dr. Reagan as President for 18 years… and are now blessed to have Dr. Carol Palmer assuming the key leadership role at Amberton University," said Mr. Mark Parsons, Board of Trustees member. He continued, "With Dr. Palmer guiding the university, we are excited for our next chapter at Amberton of providing quality and relevant education with financially responsible opportunities for today's adult students."

Dr. Palmer began her 14-year tenure with Amberton University as an instructor in the Business Division. Previously, she served as vice president of academic services, academic dean, director of business accreditations, business division chair, and professor. She has authored several business courses and has helped launch several new degree programs.

Palmer holds a Doctorate and Master's of Business Administration from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California, and earned her Bachelor's degree from the University of Southern California. In addition to her roles as a professor and administrator, with a proven track record in higher education, her experience extends to management and operations in various professional settings. She is also actively involved in numerous organizations and activities within the Dallas-Fort Worth community.

"I am incredibly excited to begin this new journey with the Board of Trustees and my colleagues," said Palmer. "I would like to thank the Board of Trustees, the administration, staff, and faculty for their continued hard work and support. We will elevate Amberton University to even greater heights together!"

President Emeritus Awarded to Dr. Melinda H. Reagan

Congratulations to Dr. Melinda Reagan, who was presented with the title of President Emeritus.   She served as president for the past eighteen years and celebrated a milestone that no other person has ever reached – fifty years of service to Amberton University.

In recognition of Dr. Reagan’s extraordinary fifty years of contributions and enduring legacy, we should have bestowed upon her the title of President Emeritus. This honor acknowledged her past service and signified our enduring gratitude and respect for her continued guidance and wisdom.  As President, Dr. Reagan displayed unparalleled dedication to our mission, tirelessly advocating for the values and principles that define us.  Beyond Dr. Reagan’s professional achievements, she has always set an example of true faith, integrity, and compassion.

As President Emeritus, Dr. Reagan will remain a trusted advisor and advocate for Amberton University, providing invaluable insights and mentorship when needed. Her legacy will continue to motivate us to reach greater heights and to uphold the values that define us.
